Through the direct trade in flowers, multi-use boxes, containers and bucket supports are increasingly being exchanged between the supplier and the buyer, without FloraHolland’s packaging storehouse being involved. This direct exchange is also known as ‘subturns’.
This direct exchange of multi-use auction packaging is only allowed under certain conditions. As of 1 January 2011, this subturn arrangement, which has been in effect for cardboard multi-use boxes since 2003, will be expanded to include the plastic multi-use flower bucket containers. This means that the direct exchange of multi-use containers and bucket supports will be allowed under certain conditions. The improper use of multi-use auction packaging units will also be supervised and enforced more intensively.
Terms and conditions for subturns
A full overview of the terms and conditions for subturns can be found in the Additional General Packaging Terms and Conditions for Subturns.
Some conditions are as follows:
Compulsory use of the subturn code
Just as under the traditional system of circulation, a fee must be paid per circulation in the case of subturns. By entering the packaging code in question for subturns on the delivery form, the payment of the user fee will be processed. As of 1 January 2011, the use of these packaging codes in the case of subturns is compulsory. For Tulips, this applies as of 1 June 2011.
Use via FloraHolland's sales channels
FloraHolland’s packaging units may only be used for products which are being traded via FloraHolland’s sales channels. Supervision and enforcement of this procedure will be increased.
Full co-operation with supervision
Users of FloraHolland’s packaging units are required to give their full co-operation in any supervision of the logistical resources.
Supervision & enforcement
Supervision and enforcement of the improper use of multi-use auction packaging units will be intensified. In the event of abuse or refusal to co-operate, FloraHolland will be left with no option but to take measures. This can include exclusion from use, confiscation of auction packaging units, and imposing fines.
