Frequently asked questions about 100% Digital and Floriday05 February 2020
By the end of 2020, all transactions on the Royal FloraHolland marketplace will only take place digitally. With 100% Digital, we will ensure that by the end of this year all direct trade supply will go through Floriday and its digital channels. We realise that this requires a new way of doing things for growers and buyers. And we see that many questions have arisen as a result. What does 100% digital mean exactly? What will change? We have listed a number of frequently asked questions and answers about "100% Digital" and Floriday for you.
1. Why should all direct sales orders only take place digitally by the end of 2020?
Royal FloraHolland chose to start the digitisation process and to prepare for the future in 2016. Floriday was launched in 2017. The Floriday environment with its digital channels is now so sophisticated that we will take the next step to 100% digital. Royal FloraHolland is convinced that the sector will benefit greatly from the digitisation move and that it will present new opportunities for transactions to take place. In addition to the benefits, it offers the sector, it is also important to comply with the stricter European legislation and regulations (PSD2).
2. What does 100% Digital mean for growers and customers?
For growers, this means that they must have their direct trade supply online in Floriday or in a software package that has been linked to Floriday. For customers, this means that they place all orders via the digital channels FloraMondo and FloraXchange. For growers and customers, this is possible via a link from their own software and via the digital system that is offered by Royal FloraHolland. In practice, this means that the Connect EAB as we know it will disappear. It will soon no longer be possible for growers to enter manual orders for buyers. Direct trade will always have to be initiated online by the customer, based on the supply that a grower has available online.
This animation explains what is going to change for growers:
Growers who only carry out transactions via the clock will not be immediately confronted with these changes in working method.
3. I create my Clock and Connect EAB in my software package and am waiting for the link to Floriday. What is the status of this?
Many growers and customers work with a software package for their sales. These software packages can continue to be used. This applies to both managing supply and processing orders. However, the systems must be linked to Floriday. We do this by means of an "API link". It is also possible to use Floriday modules in addition to your own software package. Growers then decide for themselves what they want to do in their software package and what they want to use Floriday for. Floriday is in discussions with all software suppliers and/or is engaged in preparations and/or involved in testing and support to build this link. Some software suppliers will have this link ready sooner than others, but all links must be ready by the end of 2020. When a link is ready, users will be informed. On the website, you can find an overview with the status per software supplier.

4. Software supplier AntEater will terminate its services this year. I currently use AntEater for my clock supply and direct sales. What options do I have now?
By ending AntEater, a large number of growers have been forced to look for an alternative. Growers who use AntEater can continue to do so during 2020. You can decide to switch to another software supplier or to work in Floriday. At this time, it is already possible to create a delivery note for the clock in Floriday. We are optimising this functionality. From April onwards, you can fully create the Clock and Connect EAB in Floriday. If you have any questions about this, the Floriday support team will be happy to inform you.
5. What does Floriday cost?
We regularly receive questions about whether there are costs associated with the use of Floriday. All member-suppliers and suppliers of Royal FloraHolland can use Floriday free of charge. Every grower with a grower number from Royal FloraHolland can create a Floriday account at no extra cost and use the sales functions in Floriday, such as creating a delivery note, clock pre-sale and direct sale. Floriday contains an app store where other parties can offer their services. You may be charged for using the apps, for instance Insights and HortiHeat. For example, a member-supplier pays 50 euros per month for the Insights app - a Royal FloraHolland service. Of course, you decide whether you want to incur these costs.
6. What does 100% Digital mean for the Grower-Grower Scheme and the Trading Scheme?
Do you use the Grower-Grower Scheme and the Trading Scheme? Then you will also have to deal with 100% Digital. Both the Grower-Grower Scheme and the Trading Scheme remain in force and the intention is to convert these to Floriday. The principle behind these schemes - the prevention of double taxation - remains in force. We are currently looking at how both schemes will be incorporated into Floriday. As soon this becomes clearer, users of these schemes will be personally informed.
7. What does PSD2 mean for the sector?
PSD2 stands for Payment Services Directive 2 and is the European directive for the payment transactions of companies and consumers. This legislation came into force in the Netherlands at the beginning of 2019. After consultation with legal specialists and De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), we have explored if Royal FloraHolland might qualify for the so-called "Commercial Agent Exception". In the case of direct trading, this requires an adjustment of the transaction fulfillment. Currently, the Connect-EAB is used to process direct transactions. This method of payment does not comply with the stricter legislation. According to the exception for commercial agents, the order must go through the system of the party making the payment. In the clock(auction) process, Royal FloraHolland is already acting as a "commercial agent" and no other way of working is needed.
