Yme Pasma: “Satisfied with end times of second early-auction day”04 May 2018
On Monday, April 30 , the flower auction began for the second time at 05:00. Growers, buyers, transporters and employees of Royal FloraHolland started the day an hour earlier to be able to process on time over 160,000 transactions spread over Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg. The end times for flowers at all locations were realised.
"Satisfied with end times"
Yme Pasma (COO Royal FloraHolland) spoke about the improved logistics performance. "In general, there was a significant improvement compared to our performance on Monday, May 1, last year. The end times for flowers at all locations were realised before 13:00. And regarding handling times, there was a definite improvement compared with 2017. Naturally, we want to continue improving on these scores. We are giving our best effort to work towards that goal."
The overview below gives an impression of the results achieved on Monday, 30 April 2018, compared with the Monday after King's Day last year, 1 May 2017. On that day in 2017, a comparable quantity of transactions was processed.
What stands out?
For the flowers in Naaldwijk and the plants in Aalsmeer, the handling times took longer than expected. The reasons for this have now been analysed. We are currently taking steps to improve the handling times.
Monday, May 7, and Tuesday, May 22
On this coming Monday and on Tuesday, May 22, we shall start auctioning flowers an hour earlier again. Once these early-auction days are concluded, we shall inform members and customers about our logistical results.
